Guidelines For Submitting Your Proposal To Industrial Press

Industrial Press is committed to publishing the best in technical information for engineering, technology, and education. We welcome ideas for projects that will provide these fields with useful hands-on references, textbooks, and training materials.

INTRODUCTION

Preparing a proposal is the first important stage in developing a project. In order for Industrial Press, Inc. to assess the merits of the idea and arrive at a careful publishing decision, we recommend that your proposal include the following key elements:

  • Curricula Vitae
  • Reviewers

    PROSPECTUS

    1. THE MARKET
    2. Describe the potential market and its customers
    3. Describe the trade organizations for this market. How large are these organizations?
    4. Describe any academic segments to the market, in terms of courses, course levels (i.e. community, college, University), approximate number of students in the courses, etc.
    5. COMPETING TITLES
    6. What are the competing texts?
    7. Outline the strengths and weaknesses of these texts
    8. How will this project differ from these texts?
    9. CONTENT
    10. Please provide as detailed a description of the project as possible, including the table of contents.
    11. What are the key features and advantages of this project?
    12. Please describe any software components.
    13. FORMAT
    14. What is the projected length of the manuscript in terms of double-spaced, single-sided printed pages?
    15. What is the approximate number of illustrations and in what format will they be prepared?
    16. Please specify any special design considerations.
    17. SCHEDULE
    18. Please supply approximate submission dates for the first draft of the manuscript and the final, complete manuscript.

    SAMPLE MATERIAL

    Please submit at least 1-2 sample chapters with the prospectus and any other completed introductory material.

    CURRICULA VITAE

    Please include your curricula vitae, including any credentials, teaching and research experience, degrees and affiliations, prior publications and awards. In addition, please include your complete contact information in terms of mailing address, telephone and FAX numbers, and e-mail address (if applicable).

    REVIEWERS

    A suggested list of reviewers for the proposal with complete contact information also is highly recommended. Please note that is helpful if the reviewers fall within the target market or are authorities in the field.
